Urban Sketchers is a blog updated by a collective of select artists from around the world who sketch the cities they pass through. Often there is a brief description accompanying the art, and as someone who loves sketches, I enjoyed the project immensely. They also have a Flickr that any inspired sketcher can contribute too. Sometimes the internet is a wonderful place.

Rain Down The Spears

I hate the writer I have become, and the next step in my life is to become the writer I know I can be.

It’s not that I can’t write well. When I take a piece of writing and call it finished, it’s arguably better than ever. What has changed is how I think when I write. I’m conscious about what I think. I think in glass boxes. Think with rules. Slow down to think. Fear what I think.

Great writing has raw power. I have always gravitated to writing with power. That live current is something that can’t be taught. You have to let it run just below the surface, open the floodgates of your fingers, and allow its perfect simplicity spill onto the page. You can’t change what you know, but you can always change how you think.
