“In a very real sense, light pollution causes us to lose sight of our true place in the universe, to forget the scale of our being, which is best measured against the dimensions of a deep night with the Milky Way – the edge of our galazy – arching overhead.”
- Verlyn Klinkenborg
Our Vanishing Night
One thing I loved about living in Whistler was the stars. On my quality of life index they ranked just below skiing every day. On a clear night the sky would leave you breathless, and there were very few things I liked more than going on a late walk for some fresh air and a fresh perspective.
I decided then and there that I always want to live where I can really see the stars. But these days that’s easier said than done. The transition from an infinite sky to the orange haze of the city has been tough, but no matter where I am, I’ll never forget them.
