I somehow found the time to do some real work over the weekend. It’s event coverage, but it’s something.

I thought the concept of taxing waste returning to the environment was interesting. At the same time what those taxes fund is part of the problem. Do you think taxation schemes are a solution?

Taxation schemes (or the alteration of existing schemes) are a solution to everything! No, really, I’ve come to the conclusion that the Income Tax Act is so large and complex for the simple reason that it encompasses almost all human activity. Consequently everything that results from that human activity can be managed through tax schemes. I cannot believe the sheer volume of junk the government tries to prod people into doing or prevent them from doing by means of taxes, deduction rules, and tax credits. The purview of that system is beyond the scope of a single human mind to take in… which makes me wonder why we have a minister of national revenue.

Death and taxes. Great motivators.
